Nakia Redmon and James Redmon Jr. are truly making an impact and pushing back against the enemy’s plans to destroy marriages. We’ve had the privilege of attending their Fighting for Marriages Retreat twice—and we already can’t wait for next year!
This retreat provides a safe, uplifting environment where couples can have fun, connect deeply, learn from one another, be transparent, heal, grow stronger, and reignite passion. Every year we leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and more equipped to keep driving this thang till the wheels fall off!
If you’re looking to connect with couples who are intentional about building and maintaining healthy marriages, follow The Real House Of Redmon on Facebook and stay tuned for next year’s registration!

My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years, and attending the Fighting For Marriages Retreat was such a blessing. As first-time attendees, we didn’t know exactly what to expect, but we left feeling renewed, encouraged, and deeply connected. One of the most meaningful parts was meeting so many other couples. We now have a network of friends who are walking alongside us in this journey, and that community is priceless. The retreat reminded us that no matter what stage of marriage you’re in—whether newly married or decades in—there’s always room to grow, strengthen, and celebrate your relationship. We are grateful for the wisdom, love, and practical tools James and Nakia shared. This retreat truly reinforced that marriage is worth fighting for, and we’re excited to carry what we learned into the next chapter of our lives together.

We attended the Fighting 4 Marriage retreat this past June (2025) and it was absolutely a wonderful experience. We have been Couples Ministry leaders at our church for the past seven years and understand how important it is to spend time focusing on our marriage and being intentional about working on our marriage. The retreat provided an opportunity for us to be ministered to and focus on our strengths and weaknesses that sometimes are overlooked, dealing with the day-to-day of life. We really enjoyed being able to interact with other married couples, learning and sharing about actual struggles of married life. Being an older couple, with 42 years of marriage, we enjoyed spending time with younger couples, which allowed us to see and learn from their perspectives on marriage. Thanks to James and Nakia for your vision and providing an environment where open and honest communication was welcomed.

We absolutely LOVED the marriage retreat. It was ordained by God that we were able to attend, and it was an absolute miracle! Our friends had told us how awesome the retreat was, and we planned to attend the following year. Then, we received word the day before the retreat that a spot had opened up, paid in full. All we had to do was show up! God is amazing.
As newlyweds, we are obviously still in the honeymoon phase, so we just wanted to come enjoy and learn. But when I tell you, God did SUCH a work within our marriage! It was such a blessing to hear from couples who were transparent about their issues, and gave us beautiful tools to overcome them. I know our marriage and future is SO much brighter because of this retreat.
Can’t wait for the next one!

This retreat is so REFRESHING and SO AWESOME! You would have to attend to experience what we’ve experienced. We are one of the “ORIGINALS” and each yr we count down anticipating another refreshing retreat. Thank you James and Nakia for your testimony and thinking of others that may have or are going through the same struggles you’ve been through. We look forward seeing you guys in 2020!

Prior to attending last year’s marriage retreat, we’d been on plenty of couples trips. While these trips were fun and relaxing none of these trips spiritually nourished our marriage. Our marriage was broken and we weren’t going through any real rough patch but it had become “blah.” I knew the hostess, Nakia, and decided to attend because if nothing else we could catch up. Boy was I in for a treat! Upon arrival before even checking in, I met another couple in attendance. We hit it off immediately! The first night at dinner, we fellowshipped with another couple, again sparks flew. By day two my husband poked his head out of his shell and we began communicating in between sessions. The sessions provided talking points and instead of communicating in an adversarial manner, we began planning as partners. We realized we had grown and changed so much from when we said “ I do!” We each found a friend to converse with after the evening sessions and were surprised to learn our issues weren’t unique. We shared our experiences in our marriage in hopes of helping others as those that shared their experiences helped us. We shared cleansing tears and vowed to schedule more regular marriage check-ups. We met some wonderful people and made some great connections, but more importantly we RE-CONNECTED to each other, our marriage and God!

We have attended the 2018 and 2019 Annual marriage retreat and we can say that we were blessed tremendously at both of them. I’m addition, it is good to say that we are one of “The Originals.”
When we first thought of the marriage retreat, we didn’t realize how much of a game changer it would be in our marriage. We just thought it was a chance to get to know other married couples. But, we also thought why not spend money on a marriage retreat when we spend money on other things like vacations?! We did not know what to expect for the first retreat, so the first night of the 2018 retreat, we were very reserved. But little did we know that the presence of the Lord would show up and bless us that weekend. Because it wasn’t advertised as a religious retreat and it wasn’t located at a church, we didn’t think the weekend would be centered on the power and work of the Lord. However, thinking about how vital it is to have the Lord as the center of your marriage, it makes complete sense on how the Lord was present each day of the retreat. When we attended the 2019 retreat, we didn’t think it could top the 2018 retreat and we were wrong. It was better than the 2018 retreat. The Lord has truly anointed and used The Redmon’s and we are thankful to have them in our lives as we all strive to have the best marriages that God has called for us to have. We pray the Lord continues to use The Redmon’s to bless other marriages like ours have been blessed. The Redmon’s have started a movement and we want to continue to be apart of it!
